Aufnahmen aus neuartigen und erstaunlichen Perspektiven werden zunehmend mit der Hilfe von Kameradrohnen durchgeführt. Doch wie wird mit der Kamera interagiert, wenn diese ferngesteuert wird? Wie ist es also möglich diese neuen Spielräume und die künstlerische Arbeit, in ihrer kombination aus Planung und Improvisation, durch die Gestaltung eines Werkzeugs zu unterstützen?
Professionelle Drohnenaufnahmen werden im Team, bestehend aus Camera Operator und Pilot, durchgeführt. Ein enges Zusammenspiel ist absolut notwendig und bedarf unterschiedlicher Controller für die Aufgabenteilung. Durch die Fernsteuerung der Kamera entsteht in erster Linie ein Verlust von Orientierung, als auch von haptischer Kontrolle. Gleichzeitig ergeben sich neue Möglichkeiten in der technisch gestützten Kamerasteuerung. Durch einen modellgetriebenen Designprozess war es mir möglich Interaktionskonzepte, ergonomische Ansätze und formal ästhetische Entwürfe zu evaluieren und miteinander zu einem Entwurf zu vereinen.
Der Controller befähigt den Nutzer die Kamerabedienung an seine unterschiedlichen Bedürfnisse einer Aufnahme anzupassen. So kann ein haptischer Widerstand am zentralen Drehregler hinzugeschaltet werden, als auch die Eingaben in ihrer Sensibilität und Dämpfung reguliert werden. Der Drehwiderstand wird über eine elektromagnetische Bremse erzeugt und kann somit Stufenlos verstellt werden.
Dem Camera Operator wird somit ein Werkzeug zur Verfügung gestellt, welches für die Interaktion mit einer Kamera entwickelt ist und hierdurch als ein Werkzeug angeeignet werden kann. Die Hände können für kontrollierte Bewegungen auf dem Device abgelegt werden, wodurch das Produkt auch während seiner Nutzung seine professionelle Ausrichtung vermittelt. Durch die Aufteilung der Informationen auf zwei Touchscreens existieren unterschiedliche Ebenen in der Gewichtung. Hierdurch kann die volle Konzentration während einer Aufnahme auf das Kamerabild gerichtet werden.
